What you should know about the physical symptoms of Anxiety and Stress

In present days stress is somewhat a inseparably part of our life. Stress can be good if in small doses because it can motivate us, to help us achieve more. But exposing to too much stress can be harmful and dangerous. Such exposure can bring injurious to health results.

The physical symptoms of stress and anxiety can also drive to very specific psychological and physical illnesses. Some of them are heart disease, infection and depression.

If stress is persistant it can also result in behaviors detrimental for health such as misuse of drugs or abuse of alcohol, obesity and serious anxiety.

Some of the physical symptoms that can accompany anxiety are: fatigue, sweating, headache, muscle tension, trembling, diarrhea, sleeping difficulty, rapid breathing, abdominal pain, irritability and others.

Although the effects of anxiety and stress can be unpleasant and frightening there are different steps which can be taken to reduce the severity and frequency of many of these physical symptoms.

One of the most frightening physical symptoms is chest pain mainly because it can make you believe you are having a heart attack. Of course if not sure what is the source of the pain you should seek immediately medical assistance. If you believe the pain is a result from a stress, exercises with deep breathing may be able to help.

Another physical symptom is shortness of breath. The best way to handle this is to remind yourself that it is only a symptom of stress and anxiety. Just relax and take slow deep breaths can also help. In this case deep breathing exercises may also provide good results with another symptom - difficulty swallowing.

Another common symptom of anxiety and stress is dry mouth. It can be solved by drinking small quantities of purified water. Take a bottle of water with you in this case.

Sleep disorders like problems staying asleep or having nightmares can be regular symptoms of anxiety and stress. Probably the most important thing to do is relaxation also maintaning a regular sleep schedule can help.

Muscle tension may result in weakness in legs and arms. Light exercises may help to relieve these symptoms.

Taking time to practise the different techniques described here can bring you relief from the physical symptoms of stress and anxiety.
